A wise person once told me......."Practice on the days you eat." 
Set aside a time every night to practice & get into the habit of practicing.  Maybe it's dinner, practice, & then homework.  Make it a goal!  Encourage 20-30 minutes of practice, 4+ times a week (not all one night!).  Ask your child to play something for you.
